Cabbage and Noodles (Wednesday)

Adding kielbasa to cabbage and noodles makes it a hearty meal.


  • 1(12 oz.) package egg noodles
  • 1/2 lb. bacon, chopped
  • 1 lb. kielbasa, sliced
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. butter, if needed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped
  • 3/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Cook noodles according to package directions.

In a large pot, over medium-high heat, cook the bacon and kielbasa, stirring often, until bacon is cooked and kielbasa is browned on the edges, about 10 to 15 minutes. Transfer to a plate and cover to keep warm.

Add onion, cabbage, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes; add chicken broth. Lower heat, cover and cook until cabbage starts to soften, adding butter if needed and stirring often, about 20 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more; add egg noodles, bacon and kielbasa and mix well.
