There are ways to ensure your body will get the correct amount of water to function properly. Follow these steps, and you’re sure to stay hydrated all summer long.

Lalji says that every single cell in the body requires constant water in order to function correctly, so it’s obvious that the best way to get a large amount of water back into your system is to drink water. It’s recommended that the average person drink at least eight cups of water a day. Is water too boring for you? Add natural foods, like lemons, strawberries, cucumbers and mint to amp up the flavor.

Other beverages, like juice, skim milk and sports drinks, can help you stay hydrated, too. It’s hard not to cut them out completely, but try to avoid alcohol, caffeinated and sugar-filled drinks as much as possible. Lalji says that they can actually cause you to lose more fluids than you’re consuming.
